About

Lydgalleriet is an exhibition platform for sound art and sound related art practices, situated in the centre of Bergen, Norway. We explore today's plethora of experimental sound based art and auditive cultures through gallery shows, concerts, workshops and and interventions in public space. Lydgalleriet was initiated by a group of musicians, sound artists and art historians in 2005 and founded formally in 2007. The board today consists of Roar Sletteland, Sissel Lillebostad, Hild Borchgrevink, Stein-Inge Århus and Anne Marthe Dyvi. Lydgalleriet is funded by Arts Council Norway and Bergen city council.

Since November 2005, Lydgalleriet has made projects in different locations in Bergen and since 2007 in Østre Skostredet 3. In 2012 Lydgalleriet together with EKKOfestivalen opened the venue Østre: house for experimental music and sound based art practises, where the majority of our exhibitions and projects are now arranged. Lydgalleriet collaborates with locale, national and international institutions such as Borealisfestivalen, BEK and other PNEK-nodes. Between 2012 and -14, Lydgalleriet was part of the EU-financed soundartnetwork Resonance together with Intro in situ (Maastricht), Festivalen van Vlaanderen (Kortrijk), singuhr hörgalerie (Berlin) and Le Bon Accueil (Rennes).

Our office hours are Monday - Friday 09.00-15.00, our address is Østre Skostredet 3, 5017 Bergen.
Exhibitions, concerts and other projects vary in opening hours.
