Eirik Brandal er en kunstner og komponist basert i Riga, Latvia. Han viser sitt siste arbeid the es-series på Lydgalleriet, en gruppe skulpturer som kommuniserer trådløst via Wi-Fi, som komponerer i sanntid.

Polyrytmer, rytmisk motstand og mønsterstrømninger er med på å utvide ideer om den elektroniske kretsen som et økosystem; mens de inneholder moduler som påvirker hverandre,- en kommunikasjon som krever input fra andre skulpturer for å fungere. Den hørbare sammensetningen er tale uten retning, hvor nye setninger og fraser finnes opp for hver uttalelse, med den konsekvens at samtalen aldri beveger seg fremover.

Eirik Brandal is an artist and composer based in Riga, Latvia. He will be showing his latest work the es-series at Lydgalleriet, a group of sculptures communicating wirelessly over Wi-Fi; composing in real time.

Concerned with polyrhythms, rhythmical counterpoints and streams of permutative patterns, the sculptures expand on the idea of the circuit as an ecosystem; containing modules that converse and influence each other, thus requiring input from other sculptures in order to function. The auditory composition is a sort of non-directional speech, where new “sentences” and phrasings are invented for each utterance, yet the conversation never moves forward.
