Med utstillingen Conversations with Land på Lydgalleriet tar Alexander Rishaug utgangspunkt i lyden av Midtfjellet Vindpark. Rishaug undersøker hvordan lydene fra vindmølleparken transformerer naturen og landskapet, og former vår opplevelse av det offentlige rom. Midtfjellet Vindpark er lokalisert på Fitjar, Stord, ca. 65 km fra Bergen og består av til sammen femtifem vindturbiner. Lyden fra vindparken skaper grunnlaget for en flerkanals lydinstallasjon som inviterer og aktiverer hele publikum sitt sanseapparat gjennom aktiv lytting. Ved å bevege seg rundt i galleriet vil en fornemme en dyp og subtil sonisk aktivitet som danner organiske avtrykk, noe som kan oppleves som 'a shifting baseline' et miniatyrlandskap i langsom og nærmest usynlig endring. 

‍Conversations with Land er en del av et kontinuerlig prosjekt som utforsker lyden av det norske landskapet, lydøkologi, landskapsutnyttelse og geopolitiske prosesser. Prosjektet startet i 2017 da Rishaug, med lytting som metode besøkte Regjeringskvartalet i Oslo for å undersøke de psykoakustiske fenomenene knyttet til stedet. Utstillingen på Lydgalleriet viser til Rishaugs sin praksis og speiler denne metoden gjennom lyd og materialitet. 

Lørdag 17. juni blir det arrangert en lydvandring på Midtfjellet Vindpark på Fitjar. Med inspirasjon fra Pauline Oliveros sin Deep Listening-metode, hvor lytting er en iboende empatisk og helbredende handling overfor verden, får publikum anledning til å lytte, sanse og danne egne erfaringer om stedet og dets egenverdi.

Publikum vil bli transportert i buss tur/retur fra Lydgalleriet i Bergen til Fitjar/Stord, ca. 65 km fra Bergen. Lydvandringen vil bestå av en gåtur som strekker seg gjennom turbinparken, en kollektiv lytteseanse sammen med kunstner Alexander Rishaug og en introduksjon til stedets geologi og historie av en kjentperson. Lokal fermentør Arne Skaug Olsen har sanket stedegne planter for å komponere en unik smaksopplevelse for Midtfjellet som også vil bli servert.

Lyttevandringen gir publikum muligheten til å besøke området som utstillingen Conversations with Land tar utgangspunkt i, lytte til stedet og danne egne erfaringer om Midtfjellet og dets egenverdi.

With the exhibition Conversations with Land on display at Lydgalleriet, Alexander Rishaug uses the sound of Midtfjellet Vindpark as his starting point. Rishaug investigates how the sounds from the wind farm transform nature and landscape, and shape our experience of public space. Midtfjellet Vindpark is located in Fitjar, Stord, approximately 65 km from Bergen, and consists of a total of fifty-five wind turbines. The sound from the wind farm forms the basis for a multi-channel sound installation that invites and activates the entire audience's sensory system through active listening. By moving around the gallery, one can perceive a deep and subtle sonic activity that forms organic imprints, a phenomena that can be experienced as a ‘shifting baseline’, a miniature landscape in slow and almost invisible transformation.

Conversations with Land is part of a continuous project that explores the sound of the Norwegian landscape, soundscape ecology, landscape exploitation, and geopolitical processes. The project started in 2017 when Rishaug, using listening as a method, visited the Government Building Complex in Oslo to investigate the psychoacoustic phenomena associated with the site. The exhibition at Lydgalleriet refers to Rishaug's practice and reflects this method through sound and materiality.

On Saturday June 17th, a sound walk will be organised at the Midtfjellet Wind Farm in Fitjar. Inspired by Pauline Oliveros' Deep Listening method, where listening is an inherently empathetic and healing action towards the world, the audience will have the opportunity to listen, sense, and form their own experiences about the place and its intrinsic value.

The audience will be transported t/r by bus from Lydgalleriet in Bergen to Fitjar/Stord, about 65 km from Bergen. The soundwalk will consist of a walk along the gravel road that stretches through the turbine park, a collective listening session with artist Alexander Rishaug and an introduction to the site's geology and history. Local fermenter Arne Skaug Olsen has gathered local plants to compose a unique taste experience for Midtfjellet, which will also be served.

The soundwalk gives the audience the opportunity to visit the area Conversations with Land is based on, listen to the place and form their own experiences about Midtfjellet and its intrinsic value.
