Shared Resonance is a collective sonic practice using everyday items as sound-objects, unfolding over 3 days in Bergen at Lydgalleriet and Østre.
Here, sound becomes a tool that makes collective work in society possible. Instead of serving a specific (musical) domain, sound becomes a way to understand interhuman relationships, and understanding one’s position within it. Through the workshop, participants are facilitated to express themselves through a sound-object of their choice, and participate in collective sound-making experience as part of a concert at Østre, Bergen – 12. June 2026. This will be followed by a live performance by Mo’ong & Bilawa.
Workshop: The first part of the workshop focuses on the creation of the sound-object. By using objects readily available in our surrounding, we transcend the limitation of rules, traditions and structures of the musical instrument. People are invited to express their innermost emotions and experiences. The second part of the workshop focuses on collective music making with the objects. Taking inspiration from Gamelan music practice, we will practice active listening and creation of sound patterns that facilitates communal music making. By the end of the process, participants present their sonic work together in front of the public.
Collective sound-making: The sound-object makers interact with these sound objects as part of a collective sound- making event, creating and finding their own sound under the guidance of Mo’ong & Bilawa. Through this interaction, they become part of a larger collective, sharing their stories and experience with each other. Sound practice then becomes a tool for self discovery, empathy, and sharpening the interhuman relation: a recipe for a harmonious living in a pluralistic world.
