Jiennagoahti – an artwork dedicated to listening in the Bergen mountains is a public art project that Lydgalleriet co-produced between 2021–23.
Jiennagoahti's location on Torrfjellet, Fløyen, is a reminder of how nature's intrinsic value is linked to cultural identity, history and a place for stories and tales of journeys and exchanges that have taken place for centuries between Bergen and Sápmi.
The project was initiated by Elin Már Øyen Vister in dialogue with Joar Nango, and the artists' wish was for Jiennagoahti to be a unique space for listening to Sami sound art, experimental music, poetry, literature, and music.
Jiennagoahti – An artwork dedicated to listening in the Bergen mountains is a two-year collaboration with Bymiljøetaten of City of Bergen. The project is supported by KORO – Art in Public Space, Bergen City Council, Vestland County, Sámediggi, and Arts Council Norway. Up towards the opening in February 2023, Lydgalleriet functioned as producers for the project.
