Oscillations – Exercises in Resilience is a European exchange program that explores the relationships between acoustic and visual art forms from the artist's perspective. The program focuses on production, sharing and distribution of artistic projects and the exchange of knowledge among individuals and institutions working with sound across disciplinary boundaries.
In addition to Lydgalleriet, the program includes Overtoon (Belgium), bb15 (Austria), and iii (Netherlands). By connecting these four organisations, the program also works to develop resilient strategies for non-commercial artistic agency. The focus is on how sound art navigates between different artistic materials, media, logics and technologies, and how the platforms producing and presenting sonic art forms can collaborate.
Through Oscillations, Lydgalleriet has closely worked with three artists: Els Viaene (BE), Buddhaditya Chattopadhyay (IN), and Samuel Brzeski (UK/NO). Additionally, Lydgalleriet has contributed to the exposure of Norwegian artists through guest artist/production residencies, exhibitions and presentations that have materialised across the four organisations between 2020-23.
Oscillations is partially funded by Creative Europe, Bergen City Council, and Vestland County Council.
